Trousers for every occasion
It is well known that Fjällräven’s very own G-1000 fabric is durable. Very durable. And, that gear made from it will last many (many, many!) years through rough conditions and regular wear and tear. It is something Johanna Eriksson knows well and is grateful for.
Ever since Johanna found the right trousers, it has been hard not to wear them. To be precise, we are referring to her Fjällräven Alta Trousers made with G-1000 fabric. Since she purchased them five years ago, they have been a constant companion during big adventures and everyday life alike. She made the decision to invest after a summer working in a store in Stockholm. Though she already had a pair of outdoor trousers, she was not fond of them, and her choice was clear.
After spending three years in Stockholm with her trousers and her dog Indra, Johanna made the move to Åre, Sweden. And she made sure her beloved trousers were in the moving truck.
In Åre, says Johanna, the trousers have demonstrated their full potential:
“I wear them every day. They are the first thing I put on in the morning when I take Indra out for a walk. If it is cold, I wear long underwear underneath, and so far, no morning has been too warm for them. When spring comes, the combination of boots with wool socks changes to bare feet in sandals and rolled up pant legs.”
Of course, Johanna’s trousers come in handy for more than dog walking. They pay their dues throughout a variety of outdoor activities year-round. Including skiing, Nordic ice skating, mountain hikes, and more.
She even wears them to the office.
“You could say that I live in these pants,” says Johanna with a laugh. “They are just so comfortable. The fit is optimal for me, which I credit to the slightly elastic material on the sides that make them a little bit softer than if they were made entirely out of G-1000. They have just the right waist height and are not tight anywhere.”
Johanna is also a climber, and the trousers have proven their worth – extensively – when dragged along the mountainside. As she says, “They are incredibly durable, which makes them perfect for climbing. The G-1000 is a little bit thicker, so the legs are protected against sharp cliffs.”
If you think Johanna will need to replace her trousers soon, think again. She is passionate about sustainability, both for the sake of the environment and humans. She takes care of what she owns and thinks carefully about what she consumes and why. Luckily, the Alta Trousers make life pretty simple in that respect: “The trousers are easy to take care of. I just wash them and hang-dry them. From time to time I wax them. They will be with me for a long time to come.”
In short, “A good pair of trousers are a durable pair of trousers”.

Our history
Reading Time 2 Minutes
In 1968 a 32-year-old Åke Nordin produced his first Fjällräven jacket. He called it the Greenland Jacket. It was made with his new G-1000 material ("G" standing for Greenland) that was waxed with his own wax, Greenland Wax. But to understand why Åke created this jacket and what the connection to Greenland was, we need to go back two years.
