Fjällräven Classic Germany

The start of Fjällräven Classic Germany is in Kalzhofen, a picturesque village located in the Allgäu region near Oberstaufen, offering a peaceful retreat with stunning views of the surrounding Alps. Oberstaufen is the touristic center of the Nagelfluhkette Nature Park, where the philosophy of "Protect and Utilize" is upheld, similar to that of the Fjällräven Classic. Besides the changing landscape, trekkers especially appreciate the local homemade milk and cheese specialties from the Sennalpen.

The climb up towards viewpoint Alpseeblick (1070) pays off. Alpseeblick, offers breathtaking views of Alpsee lake and the surrounding mountains. This picturesque area is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, with hiking, biking, and winter sports available. Nearby, the historic town of Füssen and the famous Neuschwanstein Castle add cultural charm. Visitors can enjoy regional cuisine in charming inns and explore the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the area.

The first night camp is just outside Immenstadt, the oldest town in Oberallgäu, which beautifully blends exciting history and traditions with unique natural surroundings. Ideally situated in the Nagelfluhkette Nature Park, between the largest natural lake in Allgäu, the Großer Alpsee, and its historical city center, Immenstadt is a captivating destination. Visitors can enjoy ancient forests, rare animals, and vibrant mountain flowers in the scenic surroundings.

The climb from Alpsee takes you through forests and meadows with great views. You'll smell pine and flowers along the way. The Kemptener Naturfreundehaus lies there waiting for you after more than 700 meters of vertical gain. This is a perfect spot for a break, it’s a traditional cosy hut where you can enjoy something to drink and eat.

The trail from Kemptener Naturfreundehaus to Obere Klammalpe offers a scenic journey along the ridge, the path goes through lush forests and verdant meadows. As you hike, enjoy breathtaking views of towering peaks and serene valleys. The trail is well-marked and moderately challenging, with occasional steep sections. Along the way, the sounds of birds and distant cowbells enhance the peaceful atmosphere. Reaching Obere Klammalpe, you are greeted by a charming alpine pasture, perfect for a restful break and taking in the stunning landscape.

The last section for the day is mainly downhill, overlooking the Hochgrat ridge that is the highest in the area. When you reach the valley and the night camp, you have hiked 1176 meters uphill and 1027 meters downhill. Now you will be able to fill up water, find a good spot for your tent and enjoy a good night's sleep with your fellow trekkers.

Starting at Hochgratbahn, the trail winds through dense forests and open meadows, offering spectacular mountain views. As you approach Buchenegger Wasserfälle, the sound of cascading water grows louder, and the sight of the waterfalls is truly mesmerizing. Take a break and cool off your feet or for the brave ones take a dip. Continuing onward, the path becomes more tranquil, with gentle ascents and descents leading you to Moosalpe.

The last part of the trek before reaching the finish line and Trekkers Inn Moosalpe offers a delightful journey through diverse terrain. As you approach Holzerhütte, the path offers a mix of gentle slopes and moderate climbs, making for an enjoyable trek. The cozy Holzerhütte is a perfect spot for a short break, surrounded by the tranquility of nature.

Continuing towards Kalzhofen, the trail gradually descends, leading you through picturesque landscapes and peaceful valleys, culminating back in the charming alpine village of Kalzhofen where you left 3 mornings ago.
