HEALTH & SAFETY
Fjällräven Classic Denmark is not a total wilderness hike like Fjällräven Classic Sweden. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t risks. It’s good to know that aside from having other trekkers around to help, all our checkpoints and camps are staffed by health professionals. If you have any medical issues during the hike, contact the checkpoint or camp staff. They should be able to help with most health issues. But if you have a medical emergency, please call 112.
For insurance purposes, please note that only cases of medical emergency are documented. Other examinations, certificates and insurance matters need to be handled by your regular medical service at home.
Fjällräven and it’s partners are not responsible for your whereabouts, so if you need assistance, it’s up to you to contact a Fjällräven official or seek your own help. Generally, there won’t be organised search and rescue for people who don’t reach the finish.
Fjällräven Classic Denmark is an outdoor event and participation is at your own risk.
Please don’t start campfires wherever you feel like it. Parts of the route cross private ground and we need to respect people’s property.
Ticks can be a problem in forested parts of Denmark during the summer months. Although small, ticks can carry Borrelia bacteria. If left undetected, this can lead to the disease borreliosis, which can be dangerous. So please check yourself, your trekking buddies, kids and dogs for ticks on a daily basis during Fjällräven Classic Denmark. Ticks like warmer, sweatier areas of the body, such as the crotch, elbow hollows, armpits and knees, so check these places first. If you see a tick, you should remove it with fine-tipped tweezers and wash the area with warm soapy water.

RULES
We want to make sure Fjällräven Classic Denmark is enjoyable for everyone and that the landscape looks great after the event. So, there are a few rules we need you to follow.
CAMPING:
During Fjällräven Classic Denmark you must spend the night in a tent. In contrast to Sweden, it is not permitted to camp just anywhere.

Fjällräven Classic Denmark has three campsites – one for each day. You’ll find the first one at Holstenshuus, the next at Egebjerg, and the last at Bjørnemose Gods. But this is in no way a disadvantage. It provides a better opportunity to get to know the other participants, so it really feels like you are a part of one big family.

The various campsites are set up according to approval from the landowners and fire authorities. This means that you are only allowed to pitch your tent within the designated areas. The areas are devoid of trees so if you sleep in a tarp or bivouac, these need to be self-supporting.

Please note that the only campsite with shower facilities is Bjørnemose Gods (finish). All campsites and checkpoints have toilets.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS:
We encourage all our participants to sort their trash in the trash bins provided, which are placed at both checkpoints and campsites. Trash is sorted into five different categories during Fjällräven Classic Denmark and anything that is recyclable will be recycled.
We always aim to leave nature in better shape than when we arrived. This is why we inform and encourage all our participants to pick up all trash – even trash that might not be theirs.
Limiting food waste is also one of our goals. Therefore, excess food from Fjällräven Classic Denmark will be passed on to the Food Bank which distributes the food to shelters and to places where there are other socially disadvantaged people (www.foedevarebanken.dk (http://www.foedevarebanken.dk/)).
Locally produced food means less transportation and thus less CO2 emissions from ships, aircraft and trucks. Therefore, whenever possible, we buy from local vendors and preferably organic food.

VOLUNTEERS
In Denmark, there are about 50 volunteers helping our participants with the hike and making sure they have the best Fjällräven Classic experience possible. Our team of volunteers consists of a good distribution of genders, ages and geography. To be a volunteer, you must be at least 21 years old.
If you’re interested in becoming a volunteer with Fjällräven Classic Denmark, you can send an email to catrine.graadal@fenixoutdoor.dk. The email should containa short description of yourself, as well as the reason why you want to be a volunteer. Every year, we start looking for volunteers as early as August. Therefore, you should send your application as soon as possible from that month if you’re interested.
It is important that all our volunteers speak and understand Danish as all information to our volunteers is in Danish.
