TRAVEL & ACCOMMODATION
We look forward to welcoming you to Fjällräven Classic UK in the Lake District National Park! We’re excited to tell you that we’ll be based at the incredible Muncaster Castle at Ravenglass. The castle is located on the west coast of Cumbria in the Lake District National Park and has been in the same family for over 800 years!
All participants must register with us at the castle the day before the trek begins. The next day we will shuttle all participants from there to the trailhead.
Accommodation
Camping will be available onsite at the castle the night before and after the event. If you would like to camp, please make sure to note this when you register.
If you want a little more comfort, hotels and Airbnb’s are available in the surrounding area. We would recommend searching Ravenglass and Eskdale for places to stay. You’ll need to arrange transport yourself if you are staying elsewhere.

ASSEMBLY POINT & CHECK-IN
When you arrive at Muncaster Castle, you’ll need to register with us and pick up your free goodies for the adventure ahead. As part of Fjallräven Classic, we will also be running workshops on trail skills and product care in the evening of the first night before the trek begins.
Before jumping on the shuttle bus to the trailhead the morning of the hike, you can make your final preparations and have your backpack weighed. You can also clarify any final details with the volunteers and go through the route for the first day. We will then transport you to the starting point while you sit and take in the views of the mountains and Lakeland villages.
AT THE START
When you register at the start on day one of the hike you will receive the first stamp in your Trekking Passport. Set off in your own time – after all, it’s not a race so take all the time you want to enjoy yourself and connect with your surroundings.
DURING THE TREK
Checkpoints – For your safety and enjoyment, there are several checkpoints along the route – including the start and finish – and they’re staffed until all participants have passed. You need to get your Trekking Passport stamped at each one and fill in the guest book with your checkpoint arrival time. In case of emergency and the officials have to leave the tent, the stamp will be at the tent for you to stamp your hiking pass yourself.
Camping – Wild camping is strictly not permitted on Fjällraven Classic UK. We are working with local landowners and farmers and have agreed that campsites are pre-arranged. The campsites are very simple: a field with drinking water and toilets. Please don’t camp anywhere other than the designated sites. Campfires are not permitted.
Trash – At Fjällräven, we follow Leave No Trace principles at all our events, and we want to keep the area pristine. We will provide you with a trash bag to collect your rubbish during the trek. Under no circumstance are you allowed to leave any rubbish or food. If you do, you will be disqualified from the event. You can leave the rubbish from your trash bag at the finish, and we’ll take care of the contents.
Human waste – Human waste is a very important issue for us all to manage carefully during the event. We will provide toilets at the start and finish line as well as at both campsites on the route. Should you need to defecate whilst you are on the trail, you will have two options. You can use the specifically designed toilet bag which you’ll receive at the start of the event. Alternatively, you can dig a cat hole 6-9” deep but this must be at least 200m away from any water source. You will need to carry out or burn your toilet paper. We recommend you go before you leave each morning! Proper disposal of human waste is important to avoid pollution of water sources, avoid the negative implications of someone else finding it and minimise the possibility of spreading disease.
Medical problems–In case of illness or injury during the trek, please note that there are trained medical staff at each checkpoint and the night camps. If for some reason you are unable to proceed you can always stay put on the trail where you are. Following the last participants, we have a sweeping patrol with trained medical staff and they will be able to help you.
If you have an emergency situation you must call 999.

RULES
We want to make sure Fjällräven Classic UK is enjoyable for everyone and that the landscape looks as good after the event as it does before. So, there are a few rules you must follow. If you don’t follow them, you will be disqualified from the event and future Fjällräven Classic event.

#2 CAMPING
All trekkers must camp in the designated campsites on the route.
