HEALTH & SAFETY
Hydration
  • Drinking water is available in lakes and streams along the trek. Always filter water before drinking. Fjällräven Classic also provides refill stations at campsites and checkpoints.
Altitude Awareness
  • The trek reaches altitudes of up to 12,000 feet. Stay hydrated (we recommend 1 gallon of water per day) and ascend slowly to avoid altitude sickness.
Medical Care
  • Medical staff are available at campsites, along the trail, and at the finish. They carry essential first aid supplies and can arrange helicopter evacuation in emergencies. For urgent emergencies, call 911.
Wildlife Safety
  • The trail passes through bear and moose territory. Always store food in provided bear canisters. If you encounter wildlife, stay calm, stand still, and make noise so animals are aware of your presence.
Trail Safety
  • There is limited or no cell coverage along the trail. Navigation is your responsibility; carry a compass and map at all times.
Leave No Trace
  • Carry out all trash using the provided Fjällräven reusable trash bag. Use wag bags for human waste; disposal is available at Trekker’s Inn. Littering is strictly prohibited and may result in disqualification and legal consequences.
Abandoning the Hike
  • You must notify staff at a checkpoint or campsite if abandoning the hike. Medical sweep teams follow the last trekkers to assist those who cannot continue.
Time Limits
  • While there is no formal time limit, all trekkers must reach campsites before sunset. Sweeping medical staff will ensure all participants are accounted for.
Additional Safety Tips
  • Wear sun protection and stay dry to avoid hypothermia.
  • Trekking poles and proper footwear are highly recommended for stability.
  • Be mindful of hygiene; clean wounds with soap and water to prevent infection.
