I am a Swedish photographer and filmmaker living with my family in Duved, a ski resort in Northern Sweden. I started out as a photojournalist for the largest Swedish daily, Expressen, and travelled the world for many years, covering mainly conflict areas for example former Yugoslavia, Rwanda, and Sudan.
Early 2000, I established my own company, Studio Jens Assur. I work as an independent photographer and artist, making my own contemporary art projects where I identify, portray, and spark debate about some of our era’s biggest issues like globalisation, megacities and hyper-urbanisation, consumer culture, the climate crisis etc.
My work has been shown at the major art venues in Sweden. Additional to my photographic projects, I have written, directed, and produced five feature films, which have been selected for film festivals like Cannes, Sundance, Tribeca, Toronto, among others. I recently completed a seven-year photography project called Privat Natur (Swedish for ‘Private Nature’) which explores the relationship between humans and nature. It launched as a book and a solo exhibition at Liljevalchs in central Stockholm. I am a devoted skier, hiker, fisherman, bike packer and father.rary art projects where I identify, portray, and spark debate about some of our era’s biggest issues for example globalization, megacities and hyperurbanization, consumer culture, the climate crisis etc. My exhibitions and books have been shown at the major art venues in Sweden. Nature is a place where I can both recreate and push myself. It's a place where I experience most joy and satisfaction, but also exhaustion and weather-beaten. For me nature is very democratic, is has something to offer everyone, regardless of experience and knowledge.

Family and friends, of course. And people that inspires me and gives me new knowledge and insights.
