For maritime archaeologist Daniel Peter, the rugged nature of Horsens Fjord in Denmark is more than the place where he works and lives with his wife and daughter. It gives him the space he needs to exercise when his glucose monitor tells him it’s the optimal time to do so. Co-existing so closely with the outdoors, it’s Daniel Peter’s belief that nature is the best kind of neighbour and deserving of our care and protection. That’s why he and other volunteers have planted 22,000 eel grass plants underwater at the Vorsø island bird sanctuary. Preventing erosion and providing a habitat for marine life, the grass – and Daniel’s efforts – will help restore the balance of oxygen, fish and nutrients in the water. Expanding his scope beyond the fjord, Daniel Peter believes Fjällräven Polar will allow him to experience another region that has its own unique natural characteristics: the Arctic. His hope is to give a voice to the area in efforts to protect and preserve it. Just like at home.
