At the Start
You can start your trek on one of the following days:
- Thursday, August 6
- Friday, August 7
- Saturday, August 8
We provide bus transportation from Kiruna to Nikkaluokta, and the journey takes approximately one hour. Your departure day and time are shown under Session in your booking confirmation email. Please travel on the departure day and time you have booked, as all buses are fully booked.
Please arrive at the bus departure point around 15 minutes before your scheduled departure to allow enough time to load your luggage and board the bus.
Upon arrival in Nikkaluokta, you'll have time to make your final preparations before setting off. You can weigh your backpack, enjoy a coffee or snack, speak with our event hosts and make any final adjustments to your equipment.
Before setting off, pass through the start tent to receive your first stamp in your Trekking Passport. There you will also receive your orange safety sheet, which identifies you as a Fjällräven Classic participant and grants you access to services at the checkpoints.
Once that’s done, the mountains are yours to explore!
During the Trek
Along the trail, there are five staffed checkpoints in the following order: Singi, Sälka, Tjäktja, Alesjaure, and Kieron.
At each checkpoint, you must:
- Stamp your trekking pass
- Record your arrival time in the guestbook
These checkpoints serve as important waypoints, providing support and ensuring your safety throughout the trek.
After about 5 km, you will reach a Sami settlement at Ladjújávri where "Lap Dånalds" serves reindeer burgers. Many hikers have enjoyed their last fresh meal here during their hike.
If you plan to summit Kebnekaise during your Fjällräven Classic participation, it's possible, but it will take a full day and a lot of effort!
Boat transports
In Ladjújávri, Andreas Sarri offers a boat transfer across Lake Laddujávri. Taking the boat is a great way to rest your legs while enjoying the approximately 6 km journey across the water, with a unique view of Kebnekaise from the lake.
In Alesjaure, a small boat transfer across Lake Alesjaure is operated by Roland Enoksson. This crossing saves you approximately 6 km of hiking.
Note: The boat tickets are not included in Fjällräven Classic and must be purchased on-site.
Camping
You are free to camp wherever you like during Fjällräven Classic Sweden, but we recommend camping away from the STF mountain cabins. However, there is one important exception: the last 15 km of the trail runs through Abisko National Park, where camping is prohibited except at Nissunjåkk, 5 km from the finish. Please make sure to plan your campsite accordingly.
Withdrawal
You can withdraw from Fjällräven Classic Sweden at any time, but since this is trackless land, you will still need to walk back to Nikkaluokta or continue to Abisko. Please contact a volunteer at a checkpoint or if you do not meet any volunteers call the info number in your Trekking passport.
At the Finish
The finish line and Trekker’s Inn are located at Abisko Mountain Lodge. Once you’ve made it, tired, proud, and full of memories you’ll receive your final stamp in your Trekking Passport and collect your Fjällräven Classic patch and pin. Here, you can also retrieve your luggage. If you need transportation back to Kiruna or Kiruna Airport, you can book your transfer online using the link below.
After finishing, take some time to enjoy Abisko. Stop by STF and Naturum to learn more about the area and its unique nature. And don’t miss Trekker’s Inn, the perfect place to relax after the trek. Enjoy music, food, and drinks, meet fellow trekkers, and take part in the prize draw if you have weighed in your trash bag!
The finish in Abisko closes officially on Friday, August 14th at 12:00 PM. If you would need more time to finish your trek, then that's no problem. You still succeeded to do the Fjällräven Classic Sweden and we will happily send you the patch and pin that you earned!
