Hey I’m Ryan, a passionate and impassioned Culturalist who shares the human stories behind an adventure…where we have been, where we are, and where we are going, to reveal the importance of culture through the lens of adventure. I seek to connect people to their environment, share history of the environment and the surrounding culture to highlight the environment, ecosystems and the impacts we humans make to our world, past and present. When I’m not ‘sporting my adventure culturist side,’ you can find me hiking, learning & teaching, rafting the closest river, enjoying sun on the beach, trekking through forests in Southern California's surrounding mountains, camping in any location, or exploring new unseen areas with friends. My twin brother Chris and I founded and host Adventure Hydrology, our own adventure travel/ education channel and website--“A daily dose of adventure, environment & stories to make sense of our natural world.”

  1. What aspect of being in nature is most important to you?
  2. The aspect of being in nature that is most important to me is the beauty, the smell, the calmness and the connection with Earth. It is also amazing to disconnect from technology and reconnect with yourself, friends, strangers and nature whenever provided the chance.

  3. Tell us about your favorite adventure?
  4. I have so many favorites! One that comes to mind is when Chris (my identical twin and the Vail Fjallraven Guide) drove around Iceland in winter. We experienced frozen water falls, amazing geothermal pools, enjoyed the beauty of the Aurora, met new friends, pet Icelandic horses and greeted and promptly escaped an Icelandic ice hurricane. Truly a memorable and breath taking adventure... one of many with Chris!

  5. Who do you enjoy spending the day out with?
  6. Chris - my identical twin. Having an adventure with him is my favorite thing to do in the world.

  7. Share a podcast/article/book/movie that you have enjoyed lately
  8. 11.22.63 - a Stephen King book about time travel to stop the JFK assignation. So good! Im not done yet so don't ell me how it ends!

  9. Do you have any favorite quote or words of wisdom that you often use or like specifically?
  10. I have two: "Patience has its limits. Take it too far, and it's cowardice." - George Jackson | “It is common sense to take a method and try it. If it fails, admit it frankly and try another. But above all, try something.” - FDR
